Data Management Initiative (DMI)

 Diakon Solutions is currently supporting the WJHTC Director sponsored DMI to transform the methodology employed by FAA’s R&D Management Division in the collection, aggregation, storage, analysis, and reporting of FAA programmatic information. This will be accomplished through the development of a modern data management system using the Microsoft (MS) Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI) and adoption of database storage technology using MS Data verse. This support includes approach to development/deployment; approach to system/user functionality; system development scheduling; risk assessment; and comprehensive data architecture for all work products. DMI is built on the use of the Microsoft Power Platform and requires premium licenses to allow for enhanced functionalities, such as database connections and historical snapshots. DMI requires a database technology that is compatible with Power Platform Premium connectors. Diakon Solutions utilizes an FAA network instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2017+ Enterprise Edition for compatibility with the Power Platform premium functionalities to provide access to historical FAA R&D programmatic data and enable increased stakeholder collaboration. 

   The DMI will significantly improve the processes for both ANG-E4 and data contributors in the following areas: data entry, accessibility, and analytics; workflow automation and management; stakeholder collaboration; document preparation; report generation, including executive level dashboards; access to reliable and fully traceable historical data. The envisioned end state of the DMI will cover 11 different ANG-E4 work products. All of the associated work products are high visibility deliverables that go to Congress, OST, or the Administrator. The DMI will cover the following ANG-E4 work products:  NARP, Annual Review, Annual Modal Research Plan, Spend Plan, Executive Quarterly Report, REDAC Findings and Recommendations, Annual Performance Plan, Annual Funding Report, Budget Formulation (SPIRE), Technology Transfer, and Budget Narratives.
