Diakon Solutions assists the William J. Hughes Technical Center Research and Development (R&D) Management Division (ANG-E4) in the planning, coordination, and presentation of the FAA's research and development portfolio to stakeholders within the FAA, Office of the Secretary of Transportation (OST), Congress, the aviation industry, the flying public, academia, and other federal agencies.
Diakon Solutions supports cross-agency research coordination through the Research Executive Board (REB) and external coordination through the Research, Engineering and Development Advisory Committee (REDAC) review process.
Data Management Initiative (DMI)
Diakon Solutions aids the FAA's R&D Management Division in modernizing their data management approach through the Development Management Information (DMI) initiative. Using Microsoft Power Platform and MS Data verse, we are developing a new system to collect, analyze, and report programmatic information. Diakon Solutions employs Microsoft SQL Server 2017+ Enterprise Edition for compatibility with Power Platform's premium features, facilitating access to historical R&D data and enhancing collaboration. The DMI aims to streamline data entry, workflow automation, stakeholder collaboration, and report generation across critical FAA work products like NARP and Annual Review.
National Aviation Research Plan (NARP)
Diakon Solutions supports the annual development of the National Aviation Research Plan (NARP) which provides an overview of the FAA's research and development plans over the next five years, highlighting near-, mid- and far term research. The research and goals highlighted in the NARP support strategic visions laid out by the President, Secretary of Transportation, and FAA Administrator. The NARP enables the FAA to address current and emerging challenges while building a foundation for the future system in an environmentally sound manner.
