Completed in 1980, the Full-Scale Fire Test Facility is the largest U.S. government operated facility of its kind. Diakon Solutions supports and maintains the computer software and hardware for the Full-Scale Fire Test Facility. Testing on its two test articles, a Boeing 707 and McDonnell Douglas DC-10, requires the use of the largest Data Acquisition System within the Fire Safety Branch. This software was initially developed by FAA personnel, but has undergone many major maintenance changes since the new data acquisition hardware was installed. Diakon Solutions personnel utilize their knowledge of the system to customize the application for both low-speed and high-speed testing scenarios. As a result, engineers are able to monitor and collect information, such as gas sampling, temperature measurements, smoke levels, and heat flux during full-scale testing. The Facility includes a Boeing 727 outside the building for testing purposes. The hardware and software for testing in the 727, including joint FAA/NASA testing, consists of a rack mounted computer system. Diakon Solutions extensive knowledge of the IOTech DaqBook 2000 Series data acquisition hardware and expertise with the DasyLab software used on the system has been instrumental in test efforts.
